Our team brings over 35 years of expertise in healthcare services, leveraging experience in unique organisations such as the British Army and elite level international sports. Dr Justin Hughes
FFSEM, MSc, MBBS, MRCS(Eng) MRCGP, DRCOG, DipSEM

Dr Justin Hughes is a senior Medical Consultant specialising in Health and Human Performance optimisation for teams, workforces and elite athletes. 

 

He is the Medical Director for McLaren F1 Race team; responsible for the strategy and implementation of healthcare and performance over the 24 international races in the F1 calendar. Domestically, Justin has been instrumental in creating the new, state-of-the art, McLaren Human Performance Hub, delivering sustainable health and human performance in one of the world’s most demanding sports. 

 

He worked in a civilian role for the UK Ministry of Defence for several years as a Battle Trauma Rehabilitation Consultant during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. Justin has worked in a variety of elite and professional sports organisations including England Rugby, UK Athletics, Chelsea FC Academy and Harlequins Rugby.  He was Team Doctor to the England Women's Rugby team who successfully won the 2014 World Cup . 

 

Justin has held senior leadership roles in his speciality as Vice President of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine.  He has led education nationally for Sports and Exercise Medicine, as chairman of the Royal College Specialist Advisory Committee and as a training programme director for London Deanery.

Fiona Sweny
BSc, MSc, PgDip, MBA

Fiona is a forward thinking and engaging healthcare leader. She has a track record in creating and implementing new healthcare systems into high-performing organisations and elite sport. As a former British Army Officer (Royal Army Medical Corps) she leverages her experience from working in environments that demand the highest levels of resilience to ensure success.

She couples this with public sector experience of sourcing and implementing innovative digital solutions within the NHS to build robust health systems resulting in system efficiencies and improved outcomes for patients. 

​

Fiona brings additional experience from the consumer health sector; she held the role of Digital Health Lead with Holland and Barrett as they developed and launched their digital health proposition.

Recent Projects

Using Artificial Intelligence to Transform Healthcare Services for Londoners. 

 

To create a sustainable healthcare system that is fit for the future, healthcare needs to be moved 'upstream' to focus on early detection and intervention to alleviate pressures and create efficiencies in our healthcare services. 

​

Working in partnership with NHS London and UCLPartners we created a framework for the applications of AI to both support the current system of healthcare and how AI can be used to transform healthcare services.
